Rep. Carney, Rep. Latta Become Co-Sponsors of H.R. 997

Addition of two representatives increases number of co-sponsors to 99

H.R. 997, legislation to make English the official language received additional support in Congress yesterday, picking up two more co-sponsors. Rep. Chris Carney on Pennsylvania and Rep. Bob Latta of Ohio recently became co-sponsors of H.R. 997, the English Language Unity Act, joining lead sponsor Rep. Steve King and 97 other House members as supporters of a bill to make English the official language of the United States.

Both Rep. Carney, a Democrat, and Rep. Latta, a Republican, are in their second terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. Both Congressmen were supporters of H.R. 997 in the last session of Congress.

H.R. 997 now has 99 bi-partisan co-sponsors from 35 states.
