Rep. Ed Royce Becomes Newest Co-Sponsor of English Language Unity Act

April 22, 2009

Congressman Ed Royce signed on as the 110th co-sponsor of H.R. 997 yesterday, joining more than one-quarter of his colleagues in supporting legislation to make English the official language of the United States. Rep. Royce is in his ninth term in Congress, currently representing California’s 40th Congressional District.

Since coming to Congress in 1993, Rep. Royce has been a steadfast supporter of uniting all Americans through the common language of English. He was one of 259 Representatives to vote for official English legislation when it came to the floor of the House in 1996 and was given an “A in English” Award by U.S. English for his efforts to promote official English in the 110th Congress.
