In recent years, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has unfairly targeted employers who require that their employees speak English while on the job. In this audiocast, Tim Schultz, Director of Government Relations for U.S. English, Inc. discusses the meaning of an English-in-the-Workplace policy, the benefits and legal standing of such directives, and legislative efforts currently underway in the states and Congress.
Both state and national polls have shown strong support for protecting employers who have English in the Workplace policies, and legislation noting this right has passed the Tennessee Senate, the Virginia House, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate within the last three years
